Settling in

The first few days at nursery can be very daunting for both the child as well as the parent. We understand that each child is very different and will take different lengths of time to settle into their new environment. This is why our settling-in policies are tailored specifically to meet the needs of not only the child but also the parents.

During this settling-in period we also take the opportunity to discuss your child’s daily routine at home, their likes and dislikes, understand and manage your expectations and explain our “partnership with parents” policy. You will also have the opportunity to discuss or ask questions regarding our nursery policies and procedures in detail. All this exchange of information will help to create a home-away-home-environment.

We do not want you to be worrying about how your child is getting on at the nursery whilst you are at work or getting on with daily routines. You can rest assured that our qualified and experienced team of staff will soon be engaging the children’s attention to having lots of fun.

And before you know, your child will be happily waving ‘bye-bye’ to you without any tears and rushing off to play with his/her new friends.

What to bring to nursery

  • A rucksack
  • A coat
  • Spare set of clothing

Little Cherubs will provide your child with a healthy choice of snacks, milk and water. These will be offered mid-morning and in the afternoon.

Children who attend all day or an afternoon session will need to bring a healthy packed lunch.

We are a nut free nursery, therefore please make sure that your child’s lunch does not include nuts. This includes peanut butter, Nutella and cereal bars that contain nuts.

Please cut all foods in halves as this can be a serious choking hazard. Food like cherry tomatoes, grapes and blueberries.
